Visit by the Sautronnais

May, 2008

Thursday 8th May, Richard "the bus" Jackson picked up the Sautronnais from Exeter airport with Wilf along as interpreter. After a stroll along Weston-super-Mare pier on route, the visitors arrived in Machen at 4 pm. Thanks to Nigel for a splendid concert that evening.

Friday was spent by the seaside where a few members even ventured into the sea - just for a paddle it must be admitted.

Dinner at the Fwrrwm Ishta on Saturday night proved to be a great success and the visit was rounded off afterwards with a sing-a-long on the Fwrrwm's patio - with apologies to all the neighbours. Sadly the Fwrrwm Ishta is no more.

The French are keen to encourage other exchanges – students, clubs and so on – so any ideas would be welcome.

The village of Machen is within the county borough of Caerphilly. Caerphilly itself is twinned with a number of towns, one of which is Lannion in North Brittany. If you would like details of that association, you can visit its website.
